Parent Denise Glennon (mother of Sophie Haubold) approached Bill and The Board of Directors with an offer to research potential grant opportunities and apply for appropriate ones. We agreed, of course, and Denise began working hard to identify possible funding sources for TCS. She eventually created a committee composed of staff, friends of the school, and a Board member, and the search began in earnest. I am proud to report that all of their hard work has paid off! While the grant amounts are not massive, they are a beginning. We intend to continue this effort to supplement the tuition and fees and try to keep down the cost of a TCS education, as well as provide supplemental equipment to enhance our students’ experience.
Quest for the Best: $9,660.00 for use to purchase various cameras. The school will match this amount. Cameras, video equipment, graphic drawing tablets, etc. have already been purchased and are arriving!
Whole Kids Foundation: $1,800 for use in supporting an indoor beehive system and curriculum. Art Teacher Liz Riggio applied for this grant and is offering an elective on this important topic. We also received an observation hive that will be installed in a classroom. The bees will enter and exit the hive though a pipe that goes outside.
United States Tennis Association: $1,500 for use in taking our students for indoor tennis activities at Tennis Unlimited in Media this spring. We also received tennis equipment to use here at school. PTO President Georgie Krajicek spearheaded this connection.
Nathan Speare Foundation: $2,500.00 for any use deemed necessary.
Hoxie Harrison Smith Foundation: $2,500.00 for use in operating expenses.
