Steven Burtch has been an educator at The Concept School since August 2016. He was a Teaching Resident at the Science Leadership Academy in Philadelphia prior to beginning at TCS. However, for more than 25 years, he worked for large corporations like DuPont, PECO Energy and Royal Dutch/Shell. His roles were technical, financial, planning, business strategy, business development and general management in nature. During his business career, Mr. Burtch traveled and worked extensively in countries including the U.S. as well as Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Canada, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Russia and the U.K. Mr. Burtch holds a BSc. (Honours Geology) and an MBA (General Management) from the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada, an MSc. (Geology) from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada, and an MSEd in Secondary Mathematics and ESL from Drexel University in Philadelphia. Mr. Burtch was also a graduate research assistant in Reflection Seismology at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. In his spare time, Mr. Burtch enjoys travel (especially by train), long walks, art, classic cinema and jazz and classical music. Mr. Burtch also enjoys spending time with his wife, kids, grandson and granddog, Jasper. Mr. Burtch’s passion is working with students to help them discover, nurture and eventually set free their “inner mathematician”.
